We just got back from laredo. Thats a long drive for an east texas boy. Had an absolutely fantastic time. The place we hunted had an awesome cabin, filled with massive deer heads. Lots of javies too. Im ashamed to say how many times that i missed the first evening. I just kept shootin high. Me and my amigo both ended up getting our 2 a piece though. Found a great new hunting tool too. A company called tactical solutions makes a  red lensed bow light that is lethal on ferals after dark. Its designed to use as a compound stabilizer, but you can swap it over to use as a flashlight. You could walk up to 7 or 8 yards no problem. You just gotta keep it on em.

Heres my buddies first recurve kill. 30 yard broadside using a 55 lb, bob lee signature recurve. Easton epic arrow with a 125 eastman first cut head. Total arrow weight was 450. Complete pass through. 20 yard recovery

Here one of mine. Bought a 10 yard shot. 58 lb bob lee classic recurve. 32 inch easton epic with 125 muzzy phantom with bleeders. Total arrow weight was 450. Had equal amounts of arrow hanging out both sides. 25 yard recovery

I must say that i was quite impressed with those little eastman broadheads. They are very inexpensive and quite lethal.

Man that is awesome Kyle. Was the hunt very expensive? I would like to do something like that. Congrats on some nice javies.

great going... where did you hunt?

KyleAllen

Laredo, but im not sure of the ranch name. Its a 6000 acre place. The same guys have been deer huntin it for 25 years. Another guy leases it out for hog hunts in the off season. My boss takes a group every year so i just said "heres your money" lol. I hunted in pearsall last year with a c-c-c-compound. Hey we all make mistakes right?

Oh and i almost forgot...I also took two rattlers with my recurve. One was about 6 ft. and the other was prolly 5 1/2 long. Head shots on both. Left them in the road and went to empty a sack of corn to put them in. When i got back, one was crawling off and the other was posed to strike!!! I did some floggin with a LONG stick and proceeded to remove the heads. An hour later when i was skinning them out, one of em was still picking up the nub where its head used to be, and lookin right at me. Send chills down your spine. I plan to use the skins on upcoming quiver projects.

Good going Kyle, those little stink pigs are a blast to hunt aren't they?

LQQks like a day hunts to me, especially a 30 yard broadside hit.
Maybe lucky no hits in the evening prior. Rut Ro...

Nice javies!!! Know what bow to use too, lol. GO BOB LEE!!! We got the same bow, cept mine is 59#. Nice pics man.

We got the 30 yard shot on tape, but i didnt have the best camera angle. Got some failed stalks. We were both so pumped bout chasin em with curve for the first time, that we were more worried about gettin blood on the ground than getting footage, lol. Sometimes it happened so fast that there wasnt time to video.

My buddy smoked a feral with his compound using the light. Vortec'ed it in the neck quartering to us and it didnt go 20 yards. Massive blood trail. I missed....ummm...several in the dark, lol. I kept trying to get in there lap with em and they would start to spook, leaving me with a rushed shot. The style that i shoot, i cant hardly snap shoot.

Hey KyleAllen, Good shooting, great pics. I envy you. Me and a buddy were supposed to go Javelina hunting this past Jan. in Arizona. Put in for tags last year. 1200 tags issued for our unit. WE DIDN"T GET DRAWN! Oh well. Anyway I'm glad you had a great time. Also, what you experienced with those snakes is fairly common. While at work we ran over a rattlers head with a pavement roller ( you know like weighing several tons with steel drums) anyway , that snake still was trying to move hours later. There is an old saying, i.e. even if you cut off a rattlers head, it won't die until after sunset. Take care. Ray
