Ok I have been shooting wood and aluminum for a long time.  After all this talk about carbon I want to try some again.  (I have tried them in the past and they have alway been too stiff, too light, and too inconsistent).  I currently shoot xx78 2016 cut to 28.5 with a 125 grain point.  These fly great out of my set-up.  They end up at about 475 grains.  My question is what arrow would you recommend to match what I am currently shooting.  I want to be at least 450 grains, and the arrow has to be real consistent.  (Spine and weight).  I don't want to have to buy 10 doz, like I did when I first got started.  Also I hear talk about aluminum loosing spine/consistency over time.  I have not seen this, has anyone else, and by how much?  Thanks.

By the way, I want to shoot the best arrow that I can period. To me that is what is is all about. If there is a better arrow out there I want to know about it. A 5 dollar bow will shoot a good arrow consistently, and a 1000 dollar bow will shoot a bad arrow inconsistently.

Best to know your drawlength and bow wgt. at that drawlength.

Yep, we need to know what your bow setup is...but already I am guessing you need an Axis in the 500 size.

We need to know longbow recurve, high performance cut to or past center and the weight at your draw. I bet ya I can be darn close though. You are shooting a bow that is around 50#s at 28"s and ya draw just shy of that. I would recommend the carbonwood 2000 with 225 up front cut to 28.5"s and a CX 150 with around the same point weight. Let me know if I am close and I can get more specific. Shawn

Axis or Black Max in 500 will also work 200 or more up front.

Axis 500's with anywhere from 125 to 250 up front depending on bow and center shot.  Easton's can't be beat for spine/weight consistency and overall toughness.

Hey guys, just to let you know, Muzzy makes 50 and 100 grain brass inserts for all sizes of carbon arrows. I use them on my arrows and they work great! This will allow you to use more readily available 125 grain broadheads and still get the arrow weight you want. With that much weight up front you might want to go with a liitle longer 400 spine, depending on you draw length and bow weight.

My set up is 54# @ 28". I draw about 28 1/2 and I have some 500 spine with weight tubes cut to 30" with 125gr tips. I also have some 5575 goldtips with 100 grain brass inserts and they fly great cut at 30". I also have some axis 400 hundreds with 50grain brass inserts cut to 31 inches and too fly great. These arrows weigh
505gr- beman classic 500's with weight tubes
500gr- easton axis 400s with brass inserts
550gr- Goldtip 5575's with brass inserts
All have 125 grain tips
