Got it yesterday, Sold it today.Yesterday I got my Assenheimer recurve and today I sold it. It was a very nice bow but it being the first takedown I was not expecting the physical weight of it. My chunky hands didn't quite fit the grip either. It shot well and was very quiet. So now I am looking for a new bow.

Now to the topic, a new bow. I have a 26" draw and prefer a short bow 56-58" so that I will be able to use a blind easier. Do to my short draw I also want the fastest bow I can get and still have a quiet bow. I want a light bow with a smaller grip but not as thin as say the martin Stick's grip. I can spend $400-$500. So what new bows should I look at? What used bows should I be looking for? Are takedown longbows like the pronghorn heavy like takedown recurves? All opinions welcome ...Thanks, Ron

You just have to try a bunch out and see what feels good in your hand. Go to some 3D shoots where there are some traditional bow vendors. The 11th Annual Kentucky Klassic Traditional Archery Festival is coming up April 9th and 10th at Pulaski County Park. Lots of bowyers, arrow makers and traditional craftsmen from all over.

Abel do you know how long it is until April 9th ?  :D   The 1st annual Traditional & Primitive Expo at the McLure Conference Center in Wheeling, WV on March 30, 31 & April 1st.

But even then patience is not a virtue I have.

Man, you are afflicted! You better just pick up a used Bear Grizzly to hold you over.

LOL I am shooting a Bear Super Grizzly now. My problem with going to one of the shows is that the trip would eat up alot of my spending cash.

Buck-tammer00 they look sweet but out of my price range unless I find a used one.

I picked up an old(pre-fastflight), Zipper recurve, and all maple that is short, light, and really zips an arrow.
Mine is a three piece take-down with antler burrs.
Maybe you can find one.
For me, it's a great recurve.

8up...Don't show up at the Ky. Klassic on April 9th as you'll have a long wait for the festivities to get going.  This year the Klassic is April 28 & 29.

For a TD recurve with a small grip and light riser, I would highly recommend the Kota.

The riser is not much heavier than a TD longbow.  I just sold a 56", so they come short too.  It was a Prairie Savage which has now been replaced by an updated model, the TFX, which is still promoted as a "slim line design with a slender handle."  

The only reason I sold it was to thin the herd and I shoot mostly longbows these days. For a day or two, you can still see pics of it on my post over on the classifieds here until I complete the transaction and edit the title to "Sold."
