I will say I am not a big Widow fan, but I have shot the TF and am in love with them. Their best performer by far. Shawn

Gosh, I have a 56 inch 50#&28" Browning Wasp that might fit your needs----she's pretty quick.

Rodney's stalker is not for draws over 28". It stops there, up to 28 it is great.

Ive got a 54 in. Damon Howatt Hi speed 55@28 and draw it 28.5 and no finger pinch and its fast. You can find them real reasonable. Also have a 50 in. Browning Cobra 60@28 and draw it about the same, very little finger pinch but a little and its very quick and dead quiet w/MM string on it.

Basically the shorter the bow, the longer the working part of the limb has to be to get you the longer draw lengths.  Longer working limb, heavier and slower.  Longer bows can have a much shorter working limb to give you higher speed.  Longer bow, more stability, heavier riser, more stability.
The best shooting short bows in my opinion have carbon limbs.  This will get the speed back up some.

Anyone interested in trading a bow in this category for a Martin Dreamcatcher let me know via PM.  Also, any other suggestions of bowyers would be appreciated.  I've emailed a couple from your suggestions thus far.  Thanks guys!

You are asking for a lot.  I have a 60-inch Shawnee Arapaho that I draw to 28 inches.  Based on my experience with that bow, I don't think a 54" Shawnee will work for you, but check with Bob to see what he says.  The Cheyenne might be a better choice if Bob makes one that short.  Have you shot many 56-60-inch bows?  The added length is negligible, and they're a lot more stable.

check out a "bears paw" light speed at 56".neil makes a great bow.

I've sold my widow recurve years ago. Tried to stop my brother from buying one, but he just had to have it. He's thinking of selling now and lQQking for something else.

I shot Guru's Kwyk Styk recurve at 56" last weekend and it smoked and hit right where I aimed. The best recurve I've ever shot.

I have a 52" bow and agree that anything past 56 would be like my 60" bow.

I shoot a 50 inch Turk from Saluki , if you get a chance to shoot one you will be suprised  oohh and I draw mine to an honest 29 1/2 inches.  Drew

I, too, seek a short recurve, one that allows me to shoot while drawing from ground seat, 18-28 inches off the ground.

One thing that may reduce angst is to use ILF carbon/foam limb set. I understand stacking is severely retarded. . . . Which brings me to other questions.

1. What bowyers offer ILF carbon/foam limb sets as option?

2. What bowyers will fit ILF carbon/foam limb set to one of their existing bows?

3. What bowyers will fit ILF carbon/foam limb set to other bowyers' risers?

4. Besides Morrison, who offers wood riser-ILF limb set bows?

I understand there are EXTREMELY short carbon/foam limb sets available, but I don't know who makes them. These are reputed to be nearly impossible to obtain. And I do not know the length of "extremely short" limbs.

Just some thoughts.

ALL ILF compatable an there must be more.

From my own experiences with ILF stuff, I built a 57" ILF recurve. Stacked like an absolute bitch past 28-1/2"

I have an old Shakespeare X30 at 54" that's smooth all the way out to my 30" draw.

Great Plains builds the SR Swift recurve at 56" and is good out to 29" and is very quick.

The RER Arroyo is the way to go. I have had minee for seven months now and due to the static limb design the bow does not pinch or stack out to 30"s and it is a 54" recurve. Best short bow out there for your money or any money! Shawn

Ridgerunner TimberGhost has a hefty riser and no stack at short lengths....
