Well, everything was going great putting skins on my 'curve.  I'm using Titebond II and diamond backs from Pine Hollow Longbows.  Got everything trimmed just right, let glue dry somewhat on put on ace bandages, trimmed a little more.  Scales came off easy using masking tape and sanded a little of the residual glue left on the sides.  I then thought I was ready to seal using Minwax Spar Urathane.  The 1st coat went on fine.  4 hours later it was dry so I did a 2nd coat, I went back down last night and parts of the skin had curled and came off the limb.  I reglued and used masking tape to hold them down as they were somewhat stiff.  This morning it looked as if they were holding.  For future reference, anybody have any idea what went wrong?  I'm wondering if I used enough glue.  Not much came out the sides as I was trying not to make a mess.

Let me know what you think.  I'm kind of scared that they won't hold when I string and draw the bow, which won't be for awhile.  Still have about 4 more coats to go.  I'll post some before and after pics if it ends up working.  Thanks.

It doesn't sound like you roughed up the limbs well enough. And possibly put enough glue down. I will sand the limbs with 100 grit paper, put a coat of glue down and let it dry completely. Then coat both the limbs and the skins with glue. I don't use the ace bandage, too many surprizes when you remove it. If it were me I'd start over, I wouldn't have much faith in them stayin put.

I believe you have to re-coat within 3 hrs or wait 72 hrs with that particular finished. Sounds like your second coat "burnt" the first coat and subsequently the skin/glue. And what Dano said.-ART B

Sounds like titebond 2 too me. Crappy glue for
glass backed bows JMHO. Selfbows no problem
longbows maybe, recurves there's always issues.
