Archery season starts today, Good luck to all the NY bowhunters. Please be safe and wear a harness when up in the trees. I wish I could be out there with you all, but I'm still not able to draw my bow.

I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

It started 9/27 in the Northern Zone and for the second year in a row I will miss the entire archery season. I am working in Alaska for 2 more weeks and will get back right around the rifle season opening, will still hunt with my bow and the rut will be winding up.

Good luck all.

Starting the season off pretty good in the Northern zone. Opening morning I shot a doe with my selfbow. 15 yard shot with a short recovery. On 9/29 I was fortunate enough to shoot a 9 point with my Rick Welch recurve. 20 yard shot with another short recovery. Good luck everyone and stay safe!

Going fishing now ? What a great quick start to deer season . Too hot in Southern zone for me now so I won't get out again until next week. I saw 9 does and fawns Sunday but none real close and no horns .

Congrats Rick. I'm with you swampbuck. Way too hot here even with just a leafy suit over jeans and a shirt. Next week should be a lot cooler.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Congrats Rick!

I saw a nice buck on opening day on Long Island but didn't have a clear shot. Less than 1/2 hour later i was able to take a nice fat doe so I'm thrilled to have meat already in the freezer

Three weeks and no NY stories ? Ain't buying it . It was slow in WNY until beginning of last week I wasn't seeing any buck activity but then some scrapes started popping up and bucks moving .Thursday a.m. I had a nice 10pt hang up at 80yds and just stare . I think he watched me climb up in the dark. Half hour after he left I saw some branches shaking and a flash of horn at the edge of some swamp . Got to watch a tallish 8pt work a scrape then feed toward me munching beachnuts. He made it to 25yds and gave me a good shot angle. The little 40lb Chinese bow and a 400grain arrow got the job done.

This warm weather is a bummer but I'll be out hunting Saturday and Sunday morning this weekend as opposed to evening sits.

Can someone please tell the deer in NY to stop running right at me when I'm hunting. Had a doe run straight at me and stop 5 feet to my left, come on

Marvin, Nice job, such a tall rack....

On Saturday evening had a nice 8 pt harass a young doe that was having none of it and ran off not giving me a shot. Then a button buck strolled pass. About an hour later two spikes chased a doe by me. She walked over to my mock scape, freshened it up and then gave me a 18 yard quartering away shot. My second doe of the season.
