Killdeer

Ray, that means so much to me. Were I greedy, (yes, I am.) I would wish that I were a fly on the wall.

It is the hardest knowing that those who would speak well of you are getting fewer by the minute.

Killdeer
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Time flies, really miss him at ElmHall, he always came to visit in camp early part of the week,we would set around the fire telling stories, good times, last time I seen him I got to go visit his cabin on the lake, very special for me.

Those who got to meet Mr. LaClair should feel blessed.

WESTBROOK

I have so many great memories of Ron, mostly many year ago.

He was my real life Daniel Boone. He and my Dad worked together at Oldsmobile when I was growing up.

Taught me how to throw Knife & Hawk and how to run a muzzleloader when I was about 12-14 years old. Went to a lot of blackpowder shoot with him back in the day.

Took me on my first squirrel hunt ...I remember him head shooting fox squirrels with a 54 cal !

He was one of the best trappers in southern MI. His Fox and Coon pelts always fetched top dollar at the sale in Marshall. He always took the whole month of November off to trap and would make more money than he would have at the shop.

As many have said, Ron was born 150 years too late.

Dearly miss him!

Remember the postscript he used on his postings the last few years:

"When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.  Live your life so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice."

He did this.

One of our more epic adventures was when Ron, his son Dan and I piled into my tiny Chevy Colorado and went to Kentucky. Much hilarity :biglaugh:

It is hard for me to grasp that both of these great men are gone. Pic from my daughters wedding.

They're both missed Roger.  As you mentioned I think of Ron often. So many stories.

I met G. Fred, but never had the honor of meeting Ron.

One of the many things that Mr. LaClair did that I have always appreciated, was to have the presence of mind to take photos of his adventures. Long before we all had cameras on a phone in our pockets, he was taking great photo's that really captured the spirit of traditional archery.
