What is the inside diameter ?  It must change a lot with the different wall thickness?

For example a  2016 arrow:
20/64" outside diameter = 0.3125"
.016 wall thickness x 2 = .032"

Subtract the two numbers gives you 0.2805" inside diameter.

A 2117 arrow:
21/64 = 0.3281" outside diameter
.017 wall thickness x 2 = 0.034"

Subtract the two numbers gives you 0.2941 inside diameter.

Do the same for each size arrow.

One more pic of some 2018s, carried these with me on my 2021 elk hunt. These have a 4" four fletch. Hope to draw a tag again this year and take them back to Colorado.

No, white cap dip with crests using True North paints.

I'm not familiar with that. Something I'd like to get into. You dip them basically?   This might be a silly question, but I hear people discuss the wraps stiffening the arrows. Maybe from the stiffness of the wraps or the weight. I don't know. But is there much weight to the paint. Has anyone weighed them before and after.  Is the paint durable. Good hobby to get into

"Wraps stiffen arrows". Really?

You gotta be kidding me. People actually believe that would make a difference? :saywhat:

Wouldn't know myself. Just hear on here all the time.  My shooting isnt that good to where I personally would see a difference.

Wow! Talk about retro throw back.  Great memories with those back in the day. Really good to see these come back.  :clapper:

I think anything you do to your arrows makes a difference, now wether that change is perceivable is the question. The way I shoot, wraps don't matter. However, they may if your a champion of the sport.

Terry Green

Goose, not trying to be a smart asset, but what sport are you referring to?

Yes.  In engineering they say the weight of a fly on the end of a railway beam will cause it to bend. If you had instruments to measure.   Now , if I can hit the edge of the barn door or in the middle of the barn door is the other question.     How does the paint hold up on the arrows?

So here's the update on my testing progress with the 2016 Autumn Orange. I cut my shafts to 29.5 inches BOP.  I'm shooting a 52" Shrew Classic Hunter II, 52" with the 'Bodnik Speed limb' which has a layer of carbon and is 48.5# at my 29" draw.  I put the 3 River's reflective wrap on with 3x5 5" feathers.  The wraps are 24 grains each so it is effectively stiffening the dynamic spine.  Initial shooting tests show 200 grains of point weight are flying well.  This makes a 582-584 grain arrow that works out to 12 grains per pound.
Hopefully I will fine tune my testing but it will help if Mother Nature would act more like May instead of December here in northern Michigan  :help:

I have used both wraps and paint on my arrows, anything you add to it will essentially add weight, is it noticeable?  Not that I can tell, as long as I get good flight and can hit where I'm looking I'm happy.  When I first started building arrows I used Bohning paints, I made the switch to True North paints about 10 years ago.  True North is a water based paint, where the Bohning paint is oil based.  I used the Bohning paint for 12-15 years before I made the switch.  As far as durability I haven't seen a difference, both have held up well, and I have used both on carbon, wood, and aluminum shafts with good results from both.  The only time I have seen the paint chip or come off is if I make a not so good shot and bounce the arrow off something hard, or if the stars all align and I smack shafts together paint will come off.

Ok.  The wraps generally are 7". Not far beyond the fletching. Be nice to get few more inches of colour.

I recently bought 9's. Clear though.  Was going to put some natural barred, on the wraps.  But been liking the bright colours.  I seem to be on a kick of same wrap colour, and three of the same colour fletchings.   I fletched pink wraps, 3 pink feathers. But I seem to see yellow better. So I might do up these classic xts all yellow.  With the dips, do most prefer fletching to painted shaft or with wraps?

Reflecting wraps are very nice. Shine it with a flashlight in the dark and it shines like a beacon.  A regular wrap is about 10 grains and I wanted a little more weight in back of arrow.  I used Bohning crown dip lacquers back in the late 70's but the current wraps are quicker and make refletching so much easier.

I have been using spray paint for years. Holds up just fine. Only damage I have seen is when I hit it with another arrow. I do recommend putting on a clear coat (2 or 3) it gives the color more depth and shinny appearance.  As well as protects the paint.

Of course they add weight.  Who's arguing that?  :dunno:  The reflectives weigh more than the regulars per inch.

More pics please!
