I had some arrow wraps that I ordered too long, and cut them down. I thought about putting the extra piece on the way I have it in the picture just for looks. I think they look pretty good, what do you think?

supernaut

I think it looks good and might make it easier to spot in case of that pesky errant arrow.

I'm a fan of arrow wraps. These are reflective with a little extra red  :archer:

Alexander Traditional

Yeah that red looks really nice.

I started using them for aluminum because I had mixed results with them falling off without them. They hold really well with the wraps.

Terry Green

Nice Rick.... Joe Tilford started putting a short piece on the very front of his night arrows in case its sticking up.  Yes, reflective and of course Onestringer.

All the wraps I have been using on all my arrows for a decade are reflective, and now my night arrows all use lit Glory Nocks. Those nocks have lead to two dead javalina that Joe shot in the last two years.

Here is a look at the small reflective wraps from Onestringer that I use behind the broadhead for night hunting and late afternoon. They are 2"" long. I had a small crest added to these, but I think my next batch will be just plain reflective.

That's a good idea Terry. I've got so many regular white ones, but will try those next. I  might go buy some material my  wife has a machine called a Cricket, they look like they would be easy to make, but I'm really liking the look of the double. I should've known I wasn't the first to come up with them. :knothead:

Alexander Traditional

You must have posted at the same time as me Joe. I didn't realize yours were up at the tip. If you practice with those does it mess up the wrap or do you just hunt with those?

Terry Green

Oh, and not only are the nocks great, as we have also found broke arrows ahead that let us skip ahead to the blood trail.  However, lit nock or not, the reflective wraps have done the same over the years by shining a flashlight ahead on a semi perimeter while trailing.

Onestringer has a thing they call "double dogs" that is a thin protective cover over the wrap to protect it. You have to order it as part of your reflective wrap if you want it.

That being said, I tune until my broadhead arrows and my field point arrows shoot exactly the same, so I don't have to worry about tearing up my hunting arrows too much. Anything on my field-point/practice arrows can get torn up and ugly until I have to replace it, and I don't care much. The tune of the arrow and matching the practice arrows to the hunting arrows is what matters most to me.

Terry mentioned that I use Glory Nocks. I use them on all of my hunting arrows now. Ones that have a dead battery go on the arrows I use for bare shaft tuning. That works really well.

I think Glory Nocks are outstanding. I tested a lot of brands. including some that are hideously expensive. I settled on Glory Nocks for reliability, toughness, value, visibility, and ease of use.

I love the Onestringer wraps!!!  They have been a Sponsor here forever, and can help you with the width you need for your arrows. There are also other colors besides white that are reflective.

I used arrow wraps and dip tubes. My dip tubes got thrown out by mistake. I was pretty pissed off :)

Use spray paint now. Spray the color then clear coat. Need to do a couple of coats. Works great.

Alexander Traditional

That's interesting Rich. I tried that once on some carbons when I first started making them, and they looked great. They kept falling off,but I didn't know the part about the clear coat. I might give them a try,but it seems easier and probably cheaper with the wraps.

rustyspike

Alex,

I Never tried to spray paint carbon. Just Wood and Aluminum I don't see way it would not work on clean surface.

Rich K.

Alexander Traditional

Gottcha I tried it on carbon, they looked great but wouldn't hold very well.

Terry Green

Rick, did you clean the wrap area before applying the wraps?  I have wraps on all my arrows, from Onestringer, and I don't have that problem. I do use Super Glue gel along the seams below the fletching as I glue one of my feathers ON the seam.

He was talking about paint Terry. I did that when I first got back into making arrows. I had never seen carbon before, and painted them. That's when they were falling off. The wraps hold like crazy.

Here is a set I just made for the wife using one stringer wraps

Those are great Ozark. I have a few old ones that I did with those wraps. I have the ones like you have, but also have some orange ones with the same pattern.
