Hey, Tradgangers,

I have a NM Baraga, 63# at 28". I would like to make a new string, but I lost my notes on the original string. I remember Steve telling me to make a relatively thin string with additional strands in the loops, but I can't remember how many. I really don't want to take apart my string before making the new one, so I was wondering if there's anyone here able to advice on the number of strands.

I would make a standard string if it were me. Skinny string give no real advantage, and they are less durable and less reliable if a couple of strands get cut on a hunt. Risk for reward too much for me..... as for the reward, you can't shoot the difference.

Focus on the Signal, not the noise.  :campfire:

Depends on the material, of course, but a 12-strand string of D-97, padded to 16 in the loops should work just fine.  That's a relatively thin, but not skinny, string.  Could go to 14 strands in D-97, but no need to go higher than that.

Call and talk to Steve, he'd probably make you a new one. Or talk with Alan at 10 ring strings, I have been putting his strings on my Northern Mist bows.

Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

OK, thank you all for your advice 👍
