That was really, really good, Ben.  I'm about thirty miles to the NE of St Patrick's Lake. I'm going to have to go meet Erik in person one of these days.

I suppose context wise there are always people asking about Hill bows , ASL's etc - and there is so much history etc behind them that reading Hill , Schulz etc is on the cards for many -
yet there are others who use them , and dont strictly fall into the "swing draw" method so associated with Hill. Rik Hinton springs to mind - pure machine filling the freezer , uses his ASL's ... but 3under with a bow quiver - he wouldn't change that for anything Id bet .... so perhaps a new perspective from some archers who choose these bows as a hunting weapon , and more and more it seems , a competition bow. Getting it done on paper or rubber with a straight stick has a super extra cool factor for me .

I shoot targets , albeit not well but mainly hunt. The other guys are all hunters , I don't get into the 'target' style bit ... the world record IFAA longbow record was shot with a Hill style bow ..... that's from 8 to 80 metres .
As for 3under , don't shoot it myself but see no difference between Paul's shooting or mine . He finds them the best hunting bow for him .
Isn't that the point ?

Paul Mcargue took a medal at the Trad Worlds shooting his ASL , Josh Miller also uses his for comp and he is on the USA team.  I like Hill and ASL bows , don't really shoot like Hill/Schulz anymore , but can as needed.

For me , my form is my form and is not dependant on the bow style I am shooting .

I get the ethos of the 'Hill' style as an overall approach but it doesn't work for many , the bows however do .....

Long May it be so . :shaka:

Ben, We are the few, the proud... Go to any shoot and you can count the Hill bows on one or two hands usually.  A small fraction of bowhunters use traditional equipment, a smaller fraction of those use our gear. There is a reason however the original Hill thread here reached capacity and a new one was started.  We are a passionate lot.  There is something about them, something different that pulls at us. They are certainly not for everyone, but they call to some.  :campfire:  It doesn't bother me at all how folks use/shoot them, but like you I am glad they are around.  We all have opinions, and that is ok.  Glad to see the back quiver in there  :bigsmyl:In the end we are all on the same team.

Greg ....
100% 👌👊👌

It's funny how I can't seem to use anything other than a back quiver with an ASL. Same as I use a tab most of the time but with my Hill's , a glove .

We are a weird lot 🤓
