Got on KennyM's waiting list a while back and got the mod for week one of Missouri's season this spring.   I was juiced for it but then I took a spot on Mike's group hunt to Sofala Safaris.  Well that put me on a one week turn around between hunts.
Did not get to the ranch to pick up extra stands, or boots or . . .
I've had a really enjoyable time visiting and shooting with Kenny.  Eating steak every night (you know as well as pork chops and sandwiches) hunting in the wonderful timber of Missouri.  But the deer were not cooperative.  At least at first.
Well I hunted pretty seriously.  Had some nice weather.  Had some really hot weather and had some rain.  But that last couple days we've had a cool front come in.  I found a place they were moving through, set up a borrowed stand.   And last night this girl gave me an 11 yard shot.  She made it about 15 yards and died in sight.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

So I returned to the same set up this morning. That said  the light rain showers and promise of an afternoon of rain had me deciding to take the first adult deer to fill my any deer tag.  Momma with twins got a pass though.

This guy came running in and stopped under the tree canopy beside me.  He had two doe following but I had made my mind up if he gave me a shot . ..
He did and at 5 yards the Ron French Doug fir with the 160 VPA three blade up front punched him hard from 18 feet up the tree.  He rand a hundred yards or so but the blood trail did that VPA proud. In the right high and just behind the shoulder and out through the left side right behind the shoulder.  Watched him drop as well.
This is why I enjoy trad.  Even doe and young bucks make my adrenaline run hot again.

Thank you Kenny for a great week.
