Anybody shoot 250-300 up front? If so whats your set up? Arrow length, spine bow weight etc. thanks. Just curious.

Orion

My elk set up this year is 300 plus up front (100 grain brass insert, 75 grain steel adaptor and 130 grain +/- Zwickey No Mercy broadhead, about 575-580 total arrow weight) on a 500 Axis cut to 29 inches BOP for my 28-inch draw. Works well for both my 51# Northern Mist Shelton and 45# Bear TD back-up.

Josh H

I shoot a Schafer Silvertip- 50@28 (draw 29 1/2)
340 Beman 75 grain brass insert- 100 grain steel adapter- 165 glue on treeshark
675 total arrow weight

I will substitute a 250 3 blade vpa or a 250 single bevel cutthroat

All fly perfectly

27in 2016 with 300 up front work at my draw length.   I'm guessing but pretty close to 50lb draw weight.

I have some 5575 Gold Tip,which I think are 400 spine. They are cut to 29 inches, and I shoot them out of a 55 pound bow. They are really quiet, and they penetrate very well. Forgot to add they are 300 grain points.

Most of my bows are around 55# @28" I use FMJ 400 that I fine tune cutting some arrows at 28-1/2" or 29" depending on the bow poundage. Most of my BHs are at 250 grs they can be the Simmons tree Shark with a 100 adapter or the Abowyer Brown Bear, Cutthroat or 3 blade VPA. If I need a flatter trajectory I use the same arrow cut 1/2" longer and with a 200 grs BH. Only for big boars I use 60# 340 FMJ and 300 grs Tuffhead.

Interesting how many shoot heavy heads. My set up is Kanati lb 40@26 with GT 500 spine cut at 28" with 250 up front. 515gr 12.7 gpp

I shoot a 29 3/4" Axis Traditional 500 with 260 total up front.  175 head, 85 grain footer and insert.
Shoots great out of 46# @ 27 Toelke Whistler.
I was shooting it with 285 total yesterday and it was only slightly weak.

I'm using a Bear "B" TD riser w #1 limbs marked 50# but 40# @ my now 27' draw. Hoping to be back to 50-55# next year. My arrows are old Patriot Carbons 45-60# cut to 28" with 190gr Cutthroat and 200gr VPA 3 Blade BH's. Aluminum adapter and 100 gr brass insert. Four 3" feathers. 560gr total weight.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Wilderlife

If it tunes and flies well, go for it. I've never gone above 300gn on the front but that's mainly because I haven't found the need and it would take some serious adjusting with components.

I shoot 265gn total on my PCH that I pull about 62# with.
Have tuned arrows with 300gn and 290gn up front of my ASL I pull about 65# with.

I use a lot of 200gn broadheads so it all comes down to component options for me.

SS Snuffer

My Kanati shoots a 29 1/2 in Axis 500 with 100gr brass insert 200gr Grizzly  out of a 40lb bow at 145 fps single bevel all pass thrus so far.

Kodiak Mag 52" 41 lb.

Kanati 58" 38 lb.
Black Hunter Longbow 60" 40 lb.

300 did it. 50 grains more made a difference. I didnt think it would.
