I blew the base of my ulna tendon saving a large stage prop during a State Thespian Competition.

I could shoot my bow but the release hurt a bit, and my bicep just wasn't right, I went to the doc almost too late as the tendon was starting to retreat into my bicep. I had surgery and they stretched the tendon through a hole they drilled in my forearm ulna bone and stapled it to the other side of the bone.  The staple felt like a piece of rice under the skin.  I asked the doc if that staple was going to hold that tendon there for the rest of my life and he replied, "That's just to hold it there till Jesus does the rest".  He said the tendon would fuse to the bone like nothing ever happened, and that 'piece of rice' would disappear.

I had to wear a 'contraption' of some sorts that would let me 'dial' every week to bend my arm more open. This only lasted a month and then I slowly bent my arm everyday to full extension. That was about 7 years ago, and ever since I took that contraption off I haven't had a moments trouble.

My daughter won best actress in state that day and got a medal.  I got a medal also that I get to wear everyday on the inside of my elbow.

You will do fine.

How's the shoulder Doug ?

Well...Shortly after the bicep tendon tore off all of my pain subsided and since the tears are Level 1, I let my Wife take my surgery slot. She had surgery on August 15 and I have been taking care of her since.

I know I should proceed with my surgery but until the pain increases, I am going to wait. Thus far I can lift 50# feed sacks for my cows with no pain at all and I'm comfortably shooting my 45# recurve and 39# longbow, pain free.  I might schedule surgery for late Feb. but I'm taking it day by day right now.

Glad to hear you're able to shoot and hopefully get some hunting in. Also hope your wife's recovery is going well too.

I wish you good luck with your recovery. Don't forget that you will need a few months of strengthening added on to the end of your recovery.
