I am a big fan of GN's and have 3 currently. Has anyone ever converted a kickback to a standard or vice versa by heating the "barb" and bending to the opposite side??

I have a like new kickback, but really need it to be a standard for the setup im trying to put it on. I just dont want to weaken it too much in the process and break it..

any experience would be appreciated.

I would call and talk with Eric at GN.  I know per the directions that come with the quivers,  it's states that you can bend the wire to make it fit your bow better......and I called and spoke with Eric to make double sure before I did this.  Great service over at GN and Eric was the man and very helpful.   I know the wires are warranted for life,  but might be a good Idea to call first.

I have done exactly this. I have a normal and a kickback and I converted the older style kickback to a normal by bending it around. That steel wire is TOUGH!!!! I mentioned that the kickback I have is the older model. I think Bob made the cross bar longer on the newer style. Otherwise the older style kickback was no different than a normal aside from the tab end being flipped around. Here's a pic of my normal and converted kickback. They look the same now [attachment=1]

I have converted a couple of strap on quivers to limb bolt without any problems

I've had four GNs to date and although I do like the quivers I haven't found either the wires or the straps to be particularly durable (straps become brittle and crack/break, wire supports will break...mine did twice, at the bends...if you load the quiver with heavy arrows.  Spot welding can fix temporarily but that wire is quite narrow and tricky to repair.  In any case beware stressing the metal excessively.

I have had the exact opposite experience with GN they have been the best quiver I have used. The straps do eventually wear and break but that's just with normal wear and tear but takes a long time. Other than that they have been very solid and durable for me.

TwistedHollow, my experience is the same as yours.  I've got the same Great Northern Quiver I've had for going on 15 years.  It's been on several different bows and on too many hunts and 3D shoots to count with absolutely no problems.  As stated the wire is very tough, so I would use quite a bit of heat before attempting to bend it.  I highly recommend these quivers.

My GN strap on quiver has been problem free and it has seen a lot of use, it's always on the bow.

When I bent that wire around in the picture, I did it cold. No heat applied. I don't know how any of this wire can break on someone, Like the gentleman above who may have had a bad batch of wire I don't know, because this wire is one tough SOB to bend. Do it slow and in steps.Never had any sign of Failure from anything on my great Northern quivers over the years. I have gravitated towards the brown straps because I think the brown straps have better long term elasticity than the black straps I've had in the past.

Wires have always been quaranteed. But don't heat them, just bend them. At least that's what Bog used to tell me.
