I have some very very light curly eucalyptus that I want just a little darker.  It will darken slightly under glass but I'd like to get it to just a bit darker.  Ive not done much with dyes or stains on wood and I'd like to have some suggestions on shade to use.

I'm completely familiar with the perils of oil based dye lams so It would be alcohol or water based of which I have none.

J.E. Mosers Aniline Dye--1oz. is all you will ever need, it's going to take very little of it. I would go with Alcohol because you may be able to remove some of it with a clean Alcohol rag. I would use the lightest color the have.

I mix 6.8 grains to 1/8 cup of Alcohol
Use a Reload scale for Bullet powder.

Thanks, I hadn't come across Mosers but they seem to have a very good selection.  Should be something there that will work.

Can these be mixed with water or alcohol?

They have Water, Alcohol and Oil based dyes.
You said you wanted a very lite tint, So I would use Alcohol.
If you had a FLAT tooth pick and used the very end like a scoop to get some of the dye powered out and mix it with 1/8 cup of Alcohol may be enough tint.

I think water base is better for penetration, but not in your case.
