Has anyone just went out to Colorado a spot and stalk hunt? Looking for any help or info

I have not and haven't hunted Colorado for a few years.  Hope to draw this year.  Never hunted bear there,  but always saw a bear or two while elk hunting.  Think your chances with a spot and stalk hunt would be pretty good there.

Hunt the Oaks , look for limbs that are broken and ground under them to be well used. have also found them still in tree bending and breaking limbs

Seeing bear in CO has not happened very often to me.
I have hunted elk 5 times in CO and havnt seen a bear yet, but that was at higher elevations -8,000 ft mostly. Although on one hunt I did run into a guy who said he had seen one.

So depending where you were going, you may have better luck.
Of course if you happen to be hunting  in the neighborhood of a  recently gutted elk your odds would surely improve.  But I guess that is getting pretty close to baiting.

I was in Colorado once on an elk hunt...  was told I could shoot a bear.... but found out not once I got there.  Rifle Colorado to be exact. Had a BEAUTIFUL cinnamon come straight at me while I was up against a wall of rock....

Cinnamon turned to my right and I followed and followed.... great stuff. Could have shot over a dozen times.... so I had my fun anyway.

Great hunt Tim. One of my favorite. What questions do you have?

I elk hunted last fall and bought an OTC tag. Riffle bear and archery elk opened on gather same day. Not cool. A lot of areas have the OTC tags

Last fall I had a mule deer tag in western Colorado and could purchase the "add on" over the counter bear tag.   I ended up seeing 6 bears and had two within bow range but could not get a shot.  What I noticed was they never stopped moving.  Constantly on the search for food as they passed in and out of oak brush patches.  Have hunted Colorado for many years and never saw that many bears in a single trip.    Lots of color phase bears as half the bears I saw were chocolates or cinnamon.  I would suggest glassing adjacent mountainsides particularly those with oak brush and then try to loop around to intercept the bear and let it walk to you.
