That's a cute little 2 point...my daughter her first year hunting with me, referring to a 3-4" spike.  :biglaugh:

sit---Period of time spent in a stand or blind.  "I didn't see anything on the first sit, but the second was something special."

covered up--surrounded by game that is often not what you are after.  "I couldn't get out of the dang tree because I was covered up with does."

tater diggers-drop tines-an antler point that grows down from the main beam as opposed to up.  "That buck he killed had a tater digger on his right antler that was nine inches long!"

Management Buck-A buck that you wanted to kill, but were worried that your so called "buddies" would mock you about so you created a reason to do so based on dubious rationale loosely linked to genetics and herd potential.  "I know it's small, but I had to kill it because there is a black mark on the left eyebrow that I don't want spreading through the herd."

For the record, I absolutely hate the term "dink".  I much prefer, something less derogatory like "little 'un" "young feller" or "youngster".

whole mess, little more than a s**t load
Sh1t Ton ........ more than a Whole Mess!
example: "There's a sh1t ton of track heading into the pucker brush before you get to the field edge."

Basket Rack - a younger,  usually not mature buck that has a nice looking rack,  but 1/3 scale......he's not ready yet,  still inside the ears and thin bones.   Most times he's a small 6 point it seems.

STICKBENDER98

Shin Tangles, pretty much anything with thorns that wants to hook into and not let go, or will get wrapped up around your ankles and feet and try to trip you.

Bullwinkle (yeah, I know he was really a moose) - a really nice buck.

Hoss = OMG buck!!!  We had one beast in IN that me and another fellow hunted for six years until he "evaporated" nicknamed him "Bullwinkle".  Good solid 8x8 or better amazingly typical and 23"+ spread.  Creek bottom were he spent much of his time flooded at least once a year and we never found a shed.

"Tweener"  is in between a mature shooter buck and immature passer buck...

Tweeners are usually 3 1/2 old deer...

In a similar vein, we used to call it" letting the sunlight in."

If you let the sunlight in, they die, the more sunlight you let in the quicker they seem to die.

Pucker brush=brush so thick it makes you pucker up & clench tight as you duck your head close your eyes and dive in after what ever you're chasing!!!

Elmer Fuddin' around - term referring to someone not really having any idea what they're doing and messing up everyone else's hunting. Very common here on opening day of rifle season on public land.

Al Dente

Grey Beard, an old buck that is grey in the muzzle
Stump Sitter, someone who sits in the same spot day after day
Post, where a Stump Sitter goes to sit
Highway, a clearly defined, well used deer trail
Drive, when several hunters try to push deer towards other hunters who have posted further away.
Raisinettes or goobers, deer droppings used to trick unknowing, nubile hunters.  Not nice, but very funny.

Only funny cuz it's true. I hate this term along with cull deer. These terms should be left for game farms because one guy sitting in the woods outside of high fence will not impact the herd by culling a healthy deer. Nor are they changing the genetic pool.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
