Hi ! I have Shelby bow on which the wood overlay that keeps the string in place flew off. Can anyone provide suggestions on how to repair it? Please see the attached pictures of the damaged and undamaged nocks
Thanks

You are going to want to carefully clean off any old adhesive and dirt, without changing the fit of the two pieces.
If that can't be done, you will have to refit them. Then glue them up. I would use epoxy.

Whew, those nock grooves look way to skinny to me. Gel superglue works well for attaching an overlay.

Is it only the very tip that flew off?  If you can ask the bowyer what glue he used you might be able to heat the it enough to allow the glue to release. Then just clean up the glue surface, glue down another and reshape.
On the overlays on there now the lower end of the overlay is abrupt which can make it difficult to slide the string to brace the bow. Make a long wedge(1" or so) for the overlay that fades to nothing at the limb before glue up. Trying to do this afterwards can cause some damage to the backing at that point.

The bowyer seems to have dissapeared.
The tip is still there but the piece behind the knock came off

Looks like a fiberglass bow. In which case I would sand the entire wood overlay off(including the tip) down to the fiberglass. Then glue on a new hardwood piece, shape, and file groove.
Epoxy would be best, but gel super glue works.

In all honesty....the in tact tip concerns me. It looks like the string groove was either filed thru or has worn thru the upper glass.

Thanks
Located a bowyer about an hour away. Going to have him inspect it and probably do the repair.

Wow, that intact tip overlay looks like a big chunky after thought. Did you buy the bow new?

MikeGiles

Sort of inherited it
