Not sure if this has been gone over before but .........  Widows and the red they incorporate into the risers and tip overlays - it is signature trademark to a widow!  Seems especially in few years past that you see many builds where the red is opted out for just white or even another piece of wood.  What's your preference if you are a widow owner, soon to be or want to be some day?  This is practically useless info I know, but just for fun and to see how people like the look of their Black Widow bows.  I like the look of both, depending on wood choices.  I myself have never owned one but I've been really thinking about it a lot lately .........  and I know what happens when I get in that zone  :bigsmyl:

For what it's worth, I think both are sexy, depending on the woods. I love my Autumn oak with the red and white, but some of those grey barks with the no red, dam they look good! I think the main problem is only having one!  :biglaugh:

I've owned a PL, PCH & this PSA that all had no red in the builds. This PSA is a Ziricote riser with Myrtle limbs. All were great shooters!![attachment=1]

Got to agree with the above,

I've got three Blackwidow PLX longbows, all with no red glass, and I really like the look of them and the woods they are (Curly Bubinga, Bocote, & Tiger Myrtle)

But a mate has a PCH Greenleaf with the red, and man, thing that looks really sharp.

To me, both red and no red have their place. They say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

So whatever spins your wheels really, there is certainly no wrong answer :goldtooth:

Nothing wrong with how they shoot either, all that I've shot shoot extremely well too.

Good hunting to you all.

A matter of preference and a matter for a desire of change.

I much prefer to delete the red and white  I've had several PSA , PA and PL's and dont see me ever ordering another one with red in it [attachment=1,msg2984444]

Just ordered over the phone, a Widow PAX with the new carbon limbs. There will be no red.  The riser will shamelessly be very close to this one.  (58", 42#@26", LH).  I like the gracefulness of this one piece recurve. I fully expect this to be my last bow purchase for this 67-year old.

Seven month wait caused me pause for a few days, but I've waited longer for other brands.

Beautiful bows,  all of the above.  There's just something about a widow and it's been under my nose the entire time but I find myself fixated now and I can't get them out of my head.  I have been thinking of a PLX green leaf scheme with no red and see if maybe they can green stain some curly maple for the limb veneers.....  wonder how that'd look......

Ken Sorg

I've never seen a combo I didn't like! With that being said, I really like the classic widow styling!

I've had both red and no red.  I liked the red with the Gray bark, But I love the look of my PCHX with no red.  I'm sure they will make it beautiful with the green curly maple.

I thought the red in the limbs was the uni bias glass for stability?

If they use uniweft in the limbs,  I believe it comes in several colors,  could be red, black, clear........

LookMomNoSights

Roy that riser is stunning.  I want to ask,  the carbon limbs....... is it a lam in the stack with a veneer over it or is it in your face visible carbon lam on the limb back?
Either way,  how do you like it compared to a no carbon bow?

McDave

I've had several Widows in my life, and I can't imagine wanting one any different from the way the boys in Nixa design it: with a red stripe.  Here is my red striped ASA:

It's a BW trademark I wouldn't have one with it.

I've got 2 PLX's. One Osage, and 1 Cherry, both with red.

I like the black and white ebony with red,but for the most part I like them without red.
