Well, I've been a member for several years and dabbled in traditional archery a few years back. I didn't post much but read a ton! I was mostly just flinging arrows and having fun and hunting with my compound.  I managed to kill one doe shooting instinctive and split finger, and really didn't know a whole lot about tuning or anything a few years ago. I didn't mess around with the trad bow much until the end of season last year. Chasing inches and stressing all season I needed a change, I decided to hunt the season traditional...

I built a Hoyt excel/tradtech bow as in years past guys were doing here on the board and loved it. A few years of tinkering and tuning got me confident to hunt a full season this year. I shot a doe on public land 10 yards on the ground in October, and killed this buck around Nov 11 grunted him in cruising. Missed him at 8 and got a second shot at him.

Unfortunately earlier in November I did wound/lose a 130s 8 but it's part of the game... Thankful for a great season, and now shooting 3 under/gap, I can't see myself going back! Thanks for all the knowledge here learned a lot

I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Congrats way to stick with it! There is no reason to go back, Traditional hunting is way more challenging and it seems to be more  enjoyable when we're in the field and occasionally succeed.

:clapper: :clapper: :clapper:  I was in the same boat as you....I too changed over to strictly Trad hunting this year and had a blast.  Most fun I've had in a Long Time.  I honestly don't see myself going back to the Compound bow.  Congrats on a fine season.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki
