Hope you heal up quick.and are able to get back out there! At the very least you got to spend some time up here still this fall! Sounds like you would have hit it right about peak color around here!

We were in Houghton for 6 days around Sept. 19-25 but colors were still just beginning.  We were there same time last year and color was 70%.

Portage canal across from Roy's the morning we left, saying one last goodbye to our daughter (by the way the Thanksgiving pastie from Roy's is crazy good).  Last year Portage canal was full of color on our trip.

Ok, that's a bit earlier than I thought then. The colors came and went really quick here this year. The weather was a bit warmer than usual.

So if you left in the 25th, that would have been the Saturday of duck opener. You didn't happen to pass two guys loading a road kill deer up on your way south did you? The car in front of my buddy and I hit one on our drive back from the marsh so figured we'd salvage what we could haha.

Hope the recovery continues well for you!

Ron, yes you guys were all pulling for me but alas my body was saying otherwise.  I was actually bringing fixings to do a couple of cherry pies like the one we had at Elm Hall this summer. 

CHERRY PIES.... OMG  Ray your hand pitted cherry pie that I had at Elm Hall was hands down the BEST pie that has ever crossed my lips. Some day I hope to have it again

Dang Ray . . . sounds like you had 3 strikes, but you ain't out!  Glad you're on the trail to recovery.  Feel free to use my statement; "Would have killed a lesser man, but I'm here to tell the story".  Hope you're back to normal soon.
