160gn ACE. First year using this broadhead. I sharpened it with a file and Rada sharpener. Scary sharp.

Thought I'd bring my favorite all-time thread back for the 2021 season.

Here are the results of shooting a large doe with a Clovis point I knapped.  I figured that nobody had likely killed a deer with a Clovis in Iowa for maybe ~12,000 years.....Atlatl isn't a legal weapon in Iowa, so I used a selfbow and wood arrow to deliver the point.  Broke a rib going in, through both lungs, and lodged in the offside shoulder suffering a small impact fracture, which is commonly seen on ancient examples also.  Deer ran maybe 20 yards and fell over.

Looks like they all work. Ace has been good for me many seasons.
Stumpshooting; Slinging sticks with sticks toward the origin of the sticks.

First animal with a tuffhead. Have gotten identical exits with the single bevel grizzly. Entrance was a vermicelli slit wider than the head I assume due to the angle of entry. No good pics of it. Exit is perpendicular cut wise to the entry showing (safe to assume head rotation through the animal). Did not autopsy but no broken leg bones so assume the hardest thing it hit was a rib. This was a young female coyote.

Bumping this incredible thread with yet another VPA. This one is the 200 grain 1-1/4" variety. If killing my first turkey with a longbow wasn't enough, I'm giving myself a gold star for using fletchings made from the first two Tom's I took with shotguns. First shot disabled the Jake then the second shot went through breast plate up to fletching. Maybe a 10 yard shot. Man I love these heads.
