Does anybody know if urethane bandsaw tires are better than others. My saw is more than 20 years, thought I might change tires on the weels.

They are not easy to put on. Pain in the butt
Don't change them until you have to.
I had a band saw with 3 wheels and after changing  1 I stopped, and it kept coming off.

If it ain't broke , don't fix it.

I swapped mine out to urethane. They were a vast improvement over the old tires, but new rubber would have been also. I did not have the same experience as Max putting them on a two wheel saw. After warming them up, they went on without much trouble. I think they are supposed to be less prone to taking a set (flat spots) than rubber. Good reason to de-tension the blade after each use.
Funny thing is we expect these manufactured products to be uniform and flawless, but they never are. I took a dial indicator to the wheels and wheels with tires on to check for runout and I can tell you the tires I bought are not consistent thickness. They were not off by a lot, but its worth checking any tire you put on for roundness.

Don't get them too hot or they will not shrink back.  Rubber tires are a much bigger pain to put on.  And about the same price after you buy the glue.

I would rather stick OEM

   I like the Urethane tires and will not go back to rubber...  I remember them not going on as easy as rubber but I don't remember struggling too much to put them on...  A third hand may be of some help when installing them...  Go Urethane.!!

I put them on my saw and it wasn't all that difficult.
