Just curious how the season has gone for anyone using the Wicks?

Thanks

Had great response to my wicks this year with scrapes under all 4 set ups.  I need to put cameras on them

My wick sets are the only scrapes that are still open.

Natural scrapes were made and maintained for a short period in late October but closed up by the first week of November.

I haven't checked my wicks in a week or so but they were still getting activity from bucks and some does in late November. Lots of game cam pix confirm this.

I set out three on 640 acres back in late July. All three had cameras aimed at them and all three were over existing scrapes from the previous years (several). Interesting results. At first I had lots of doe visits and few bucks. By late September all three had mature buck visits, sometimes multiple mature bucks. Most of the time more than one buck was in the picture. Several times pics were of immature bucks locking horns. Most interesting was the scrapes were never opened, even to this day. New ones were made close by. While hunting I only observed small bucks make stops. Its something I will continue to experiment with. I think Gene nailed the fact you will at least know whats in your area.

I put several out. I do not have trail cams, but could tell most had been "messed" with. None had scrapes opened under them. In October I scrapped away the leaves underneath one of the wicks i.e. made a mock scrape... and very shortly there was a good-sized scrape opened and maintained right where I had scraped the leaves away. In mid-November I killed a nice buck right next to that scrape. He was not working it, but was cruising by it.
I'm looking forward to doing more with my wicks next year.

Up for the rut... get them out now if you haven't already.....

The link on Brothers of the Bow doesn't work anymore unfortunately. Gene Wensel did a really good job telling about his method.
