Besides string walking can longer serving balance string weight and allow bow to be quieter and redistribute string flex to beyond just adding string weight?

I think having serving longer than you need just adds weight to the string and slows it down.  It might make it a little quieter, but not as much as using a heavier arrow would, which would give you more bang for your buck (pun intended 😊).

  good one Mcdave.  well to illustrate my point imagine if you had a 200 grain string silencer only on the top portion of the string when the string is pulled back and released , at the stop , you would have a major tidal wave of unbalanced energy trying to equalize itself. It a lesser way would the string behave better if the serving is extended a few inches down toward the bottom limb because the nocking points and our hand is placed higher than string center?

I don't know about balancing the string,but I tell my string maker to move the whole serving down some. I hit my arm pretty bad,and where most people put it my arm hits below the serving and it tears the string up.

He has done this for me and it works for me.

I think you'd have to be able to factor in how you hold the string, how the bow is tillered, were on the string you have silencers(if any), and how you release the string.  Do all that and maybe, just maybe, you could tell the difference.

No, that's the correct analogy.... cause I came up with it.   

I just listed abut 30 variables to tuning a bow, when it disappeared off the screen. Rather then rewrite I'll just say that there is an almost endless number of things that you can do to affect arrow flight.

On a hunch I tried something once that proved to be interesting. I put a piece of rubber tubing on the bottom limb tip and shot the bow. It seemed to quiet the bow somewhat. After a few shots I switched the tubing to the top limb, but the results were different. It was louder then when it was on the bottom, and louder then without the tubing. The tubing was about 1/2" ID and about 1" in length. It made me wonder if a bow tip protector might in some cases be a negative. Just a thought.     Terry, that was very analogical.

I listened to a podcast , forgot who, but very big name Archer said he never reads ,watches anything on target panic because it would cause target panic.    it's like playing corn hole , practice and get better. I can imagine the big league corn hole players talking seriously about bag weight, follow through ,bag material and how that effects board drag, bag arm locked not locked, board angle, board length,board material, and ......how that can cause target hole panic.
