There's several of the old originals like Charlie that I miss... they brought a lot of really good stuff , I heard Charlie on a podcast a while back telling stories and it really reminded me of the good ole days here

Hey buddy. Thanks for thinking about me. I haven't hunted in 2 years now and I'm tired of it. I took a fall from a ladder stand (bottom rung) and managed to crush my ankle. Recovered in a rehab facility for 4 months. In the end
laying on my back for 4 months was just what the busted ankle needed but it was not what the rest of my body needed. Ever since I've been trying to get my strength back. Strength to walk more than 20 yards and strength to draw my bow.  In that time I've gotten those things back somewhat and realized there isn't something going  on in my back that just isn't all that pleasant.  For now it's good days and bad days. My goal this fall is to take a deer, any deer. I'll keep you posted.

So good to hear from you Charlie! I sure do hope and pray you get to feeling better. I know is really does suck to wake up in pain every day and sometimes gets better and sometimes not. Lots of folks think about you every day around here. You have taught and entertained us a bunch over the years and I appreciate it.. Take care! Hope you have a great fall.

Charlie, I was just thinking of you the other day.  Hope you get out in the woods a bit.  One of my favorite photos is of you having shot a squirrel almost straight up and watching it as it's falling.  Reminds of our old friend Jerry's favorite past time with a bow.  Take care my friend.

Thanks so much guys. I means a lot!

I should be shot for not mentioning my savior during the ordeal. Once I came to (I think I hit my head pretty hard and was unconscious for a while) I was able with great effort to pull myself up using the tree steps. It was obvious immediately that I couldn't put ANY weight on my foot and I have a lot of weight to put on it.

I was fortunate that I had cell service so I got on the phone and called my good friend Kenny McKenzie. He was able to take off work and come to get me immediately. It took a little creative direction giving but Kenny was able to drive right to me. I'm certainly to big to carry out.

He took me right to the nearest emergency room and left me in good hands.

Thanks buddy. It would be hard to find a nicer guy.

Hey Charlie, I know what you're going through. I fell and broke my foot a couple years ago. Spent two months in the hospital and then a long time in rehab. I hunted last fall but didn't kill anything. I'm looking forward to this fall.....Like I've always said, ......"I'll hunt until they throw dirt in my face"

I'm 85 years old and you must be about 100 now.  :biglaugh:

Speedy recovery, Charlie. We sure don't heal like we used to.
Best of luck to you.

The best to you Charlie !
I had double knee replacement several years ago and lost 20 # during recovery. It was all my muscle mass. It took many months to build it back up. Hang in there. It's not easy but you can do it. We're all rooting for you.

Charlie, sometimes just sitting in the woods with your bow on your lap will do wonders for you. Keep us informed...
