At Reelfoot Lake, in NW Tennessee, eagles have been known to swoop in on the many duck blinds and relieve hunters of some of their ducks.  Reelfoot has a substantial resident population of them now.  The state conducts driving and pontoon boat tours for folks to see them.

I never had eagles by me in Hudson, NY, Columbia county.  But starting last year, we had 2, now, I have 5 that took up residency on my hill.  I watch them circle and saw 3 of them picking at roadkill a few hundred feet down the road from me.  Not sure how they will affect the red tailed hawk and kestrel population, not to mention the small game.

I am in Oakland, NJ, about 50 miles NW of New York City.  Every year we have them flying north along the Ramapo River.  This summer I have seen what appears to be one flying along the river several times.  The ducks freak-out!
