On July 5th, John Jeanneney passed away at his home in Berne, NY, he was 86 years old.  John was the leading authority on training and using dogs to trail wounded deer when all other means failed.  He literally wrote the book, actually 3 on the subject, and personally recovered over 1,000 deer for hunters.  He was instrumental in getting the legislation passed that allowed the use of tracking dogs to aid in the recovery of wounded deer.
I personally know several people who trained their dogs with him, used his practices and techniques, and got their dogs from his kennel.  He was also an English professor at Hofstra University for 30 years, and was inducted into the NYS Outdoor Hall of Fame for his contribution to the hunting community.  May God rest his soul.

I met and talked with John, at the Deer Search booth, at various fairs and sports shows years ago....

He was a great man, and will be much missed. Rest in peace Brother, your work continues.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

I will dearly miss John.  He and Jolanta have been great for my wife Molly and I. We have had two of their pups and bred my first Dachshund Tilly (who was out of their line) to one one of their stud dogs Billy. My two year old Wirehaired Dachshund Brooke is one of their pups. They have all been great tracking family dogs. RIP John...tippit
