Friend of mine told me to come down to the creek on his property because he has been seeing a lot of carp. An afternoon bowfishing for invasive species is fun to me.

Made the reel out of a bucket rim, some L brackets, inner tube rubber wrapped in electrical tape, and a few nuts, bolts, and washers. The fishing arrow and line are both Muzzy products. Total cost was about $50, and I was in the game.

I always liked a "shoot through" reel. Years ago, that's what I started with.....

Several companies made them. Now? Nobody!! Darn shame too....
With todays plastics I'd bet there would be some great ones!!

Great job on the reel, Good old American ingenuity!!! :bigsmyl:
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

Thanks brother. Good ol native american Injunuity more like it in my case haha lol.

The bucket rim works very well. Perfect size and it offers some flexibility. The line is actually tied off to my metal L bracket so the plastic hoop just holds my line. Its almost weightless and my sight picture is perfect when I am aiming down.

Hours of fun will follow, I guarantee it.
