Another Spine Question

I get very confused with this. Shooting a bow cut 3/16"s past center. Arrows are showing just a bit stiff. Will that same arrow be stiffer or weaker when shooting the same weight bows just cut to center ?

McDave

There are more variables than just weight and center cut when determining the correct spine for an arrow.  So to eliminate as many variables as possible, let me answer a slightly different question than you asked.

Let's assume you have a bow cut 3/16" past center and you have an arrow that is well tuned for it.  If you build out the side plate to center, the bow will require a weaker spined arrow than the one that was well tuned when the bow was cut 3/16" past center.

Correct.  It will behave stiffer.  Going from a cut past center to a cut to center bow is like moving the side plate out, which requires a less stiff arrow or makes the same arrow act stiffer.

Just so we're on the same page.  When you say your bow is cut 3/16 past center, you mean it's cut 3/16 to the right of the center of the bow (on a right handed bow), correct?  If the shelf/side plate is cut 3/16 to the left of the center of the bow, it's called proud of center (for a right hand bow).

stagetek

Yes. It's cut to the right of center. They're both right handed bows. One is a Widow, the other a Blacktail. Both 48#.
