Why isn't it fun to work with?

Slivers and very open grain.  Gotta be very careful feathering the fades.  Open grain is a PITA to fill at finish time.   I rub it ful of SG for filler.  I ordered some thick Starbond and am thinking it might be just the ticket for the job.  We'll see!

Finally on vacation for week. Progress will be made.

I've been working on my second candidate bow. It came in heavy due to my leaving the backing bamboo a bit thick. 🤬
So, I have been scraping and sanding at it for some time. This afternoon, I got it to brace height and I think it looks good. It's still a bit heavy, but that's something I can fix. I left it strung for now and I'll see how it handles it.

Here are my swap bow candidates. The one with no string is a mild r/d. Osage and walnut with mosaic tip overlays. It's right on my poor victim's lower weight requirement and it shoots well.
The strung bow is the one that I would prefer to send, only because I think it's prettier and it should be a performer. It's a highly r/d longbow. Osage, canary wood, walnut and some mosaic. If I can drop a few more pounds I'll be a happy camper.
