Next week is my birthday week AND the opener for my favorite game species to hunt...It's getting pretty serious here in the Ozarks  :archer2:

My favorite point to use for squirrel is a 125gr Talon head with a 100gr brass insert and an aluminum footing.  Such a setup slams with authority, cuts with a small diameter to preserve the meat, doesn't usually get stuck in the hardwood trunks, and is just plain fun to hunt them with.  Beware though, a bad shot can quickly turn into a lost arrow.  PINK fletching helps but isn't a 100% guarantee against a lost arrow.

 :thumbsup: My favorite to hunt also.

It is but if I hunt them with a bow I wouldn't eat many.  They are ninjas.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

When I lose an expensive arrow shooting at 'tree rats' I always think to myself, 'For the cost of that arrow I could have bought a nice ribeye stake . . . more meat and tastier too.
I Become the Tree until I Become the Arrow.
Practice - Practice - Practice - Beer.  Works for me . . .

Ours starts May 22 I believe here in Missouri.  Got a back quiver full of squirrel ammo.  Now I just need to find the time...

My favorite squirrel head is a M-A 3 with about 1/2" cut off the tip mounted on a flu-flu for tree shots and regular arrows for ground shots. They are less likely to stick in the tree but will still penetrate the tough hide of the squirrels.

Here's the head with the tip cut off

Cast iron goodness, Ron!
Have to use 85 pounds to get a judo to penetrate like that. I got at least an inch and a half with a hex head, and the rascal crawled up a hollow tree to die!

Used a super wide broadband once. Never found the arra :knothead:

Haven't et a arrow-killed squoil yet!. They have my utmost respect, and I have a penchant for CCI SGB .22s.

Killdeer :nono:
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
