anyone use super glue for tip overlays ? if so what brand ? been using smooth-on not a fan of heating limbs to cure.

Yep, blue cap gorilla .  And if you don't want to heat the ea40 it will cure in 24 hours at 70*

I still cook the bow to help heat resistance (if it does)  but never overlays  if I use ea40

I see the blue cap is not recommended for outdoor use, but do not see how that can be a problem with the bow sealed with a finish.

Crooked Stic

I been using JB weld super glue. just a little cheaper.

thank you i will start using it.

Didn't know about the not for outdoor on the gorilla, a lot of bowyers use it tho.   It sands a little better than thin CA and has a bit more work time it seems to me.

It's the only thing I use. I use starbond hobby CA glue. It's much less expensive and in my opinion better than the stuff you find at hardware stores. I use the thin for crack filling as it'll suck deep through them. It'll actually flow through a crack you can barely see and deep out the backside (I may have glued my hand to bows this way) and medium for overlays and such. Just make sure you have a good mating surface and milk roughness. I havnt had a glue lime pop since I started using this glue. The wood around it typically breaks first.

I use Smooth On for overlays, put a shop light near each tip, throw a towel over it.

I use that Starbond also. Its good glue, but I have only used the thin, which is too thin for overlays.
I just use it for inlays. I know lots of folks have had good luck using CA in stress applications, but to me thats a good time for some thick a$$ EA-40.

I don't use the Starbond but the Gorilla blue cap works good.

Also, the hobby Lobby branded SG.  Thin, medium and thick.  Thick best ffor fletching cause it doesn't run down the shaft and over the nock while in the fletcher.
