Wondering what kind of bow hangers everyone has good luck with? I like my bow to hang out away from the tree a bit to make it easier to grab so I've been using the bi fold type from realtree. My issue with them is when I go to grab my bow it gets stuck on the hanger and usually makes noise. Has anyone modified these in some way or figured out something different?

I have had the same thing happen. I recently put velcro on my Recurve limbs to dampen the string slap noise. Haven't tried it on the hanger yet but I think it may keep the limb from sticking and cause that noise.

I use a similar type hanger but I prefer the Cranford hangers. They are better quality than the realtree brand in my opinion, and I haven't noticed the issue that you describe (but I have mountain muffler strings on my recurves, which probably makes a difference)...

Just hang the bow further back on the hanger.  Insted of hanging it in the hook hanf it where the hook meets the square tube. The rubber coating covers the squar tube maybe for 1/2 inch.  Thats where i hang it.  The square tibe is wide eniugh it doesnt slide inder the string.

I use the same and have also tried hanging it back a little farther, seems to help. But I think I'm going to be trying those sticktamers this year. Should eliminate it getting stuck at all and be a lot quieter.

Slip a piece of cork or ethafoam over the metal hook and or wrap it with tape to increase it's diameter.  The larger diameter you make it, the less likely your limb/string will catch on it.

Love the stiktamers! I put them on every bow for that very reason.

I use the real tree hangers also. Usually the shorter ones, but I also have some of the ones that are 12-14".  The noise I hear usually comes from where the bolt goes through the pivot point.  I just tighten the bolt and there is no more noise.

I cut some short pieces of garden hose and slid them over the end of the hook to make it a bigger diameter.  Not perfect but seemed to help.

I like to use 2 or 3 armed bow hangers when I'm in a tree. The trick that I learned that works for me is to have the bow hanging off to my left side just a little (I shoot right handed). When I have deer coming in and want to pick my bow off the hanger I hold the bow by the grip with my left hand (bow hand) and grab the string with my right hand. Before I start picking the bow up off the hanger I pull back on the string a little. The bow lifts right off without any noise. Best of luck to you.

Some good suggestions so far! I've tried wrapping tape around arm to make it bigger but wasn't happy with that. Wwwwhere I hunt it is very thick so deer are usually around 20 yards or closer before I see them so cant get away with much movement to get bow off hanger. I usually try to keep my bow in my hands if I can but that gets old after awhile

This doesn't answer your question, but I shoot a longbow and just slide it down in my rubber boot.  Grip is always inches from hand sitting or standing. Small upward movement to get  bow out and ready.   :bigsmyl:

Doesn't work well for me with recurves, they tend to fall out on the ground during naps...
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny I use to do the same thing but don't wear rubber boots much anymore. Still one of the best bow holders I've found though!
