Looking for some advise on my arrows. They are the Gold Tip hunters and are as black as can be! In the spring when I was bear hunting, when it was getting to be last light and things were getting dark all round the arrow was very hard to see. I found this super hard especially when you draw and trying to aim on a black bear!
I was thinking of trying to maybe put white paint on maybe 2 or 3 inches of the end of the shaft to help give me some contrast. The question I have is what kind of paint would work the best? I would be able to prefer to go into a hardware store or anywhere that a normal town would have. I would prefer to not to have to order special paint to get the job done.

Just get white or refelctive arrow wraps cut a a strip to size you want wrap around at the base of point also take the fuzzy side of white sticky velcro cut a strip wrapnit around arrow.  This can be painted with glow paint.

Carbon arrows take and hold spray paint very well. If you clean the arrow and then let the paint dry completely they are also durable. I have Carbon Express arrows I use for small game and stumping that I painted years ago still holding up well. Krylon gloss or Rustoleum gloss both hold up well both don't need any clear coat or anything over paint to make it durable. Easy to touch up if they get a chip and a solid painted arrow adds very little weight unless you put 25 coats in them.

2nd Bowmaster, easy peasy.

Reflective vinyl arrow wraps are a game changer. I use reflective yellow or white on all my arrows. They look like regular vinyl in daylight but when it gets dark and you shine a light on them it's crazy how bright they shine back. You can cut your own or get them from some place like onestringer.

Have painted arrows for years and years, both aluminum and carbon, with primer gray spray paint. Buff with soft cloth after to take off the texture, then a couple coats of paste wax.

Either wraps or spray paint are quick and easy, I have had wraps lift a little when I glued the feathers on, can't remember what I used at the time but it reacted with the wrap.  Good luck.

Krylon Fusion sticks well for crests but I don't know how it would hold up on the business end of the arrow. I use Scotch Guard reflective tape on my hunting arrows but more up near the fletching.

Thanks for all the input! I have one that I tried to see the contrast with and used the arrow wrap. It sounds like that holds up decent. I was worried that it might wear off quick shooting it into targets. Glad to hear that the spray paint works also! Gives me some options to try!

Arrow wraps work good for where you put the feathers. I tried painting some,and they looked great,but it was iffy on the feathers holding.

If you're drawing and trying to see arrows in low light peripheral vision then go spray paint route as described above. Arrow wraps will help in flight view a little but painting whole shaft will be better
