For those that have tuned, are shooting, or even made their own footed shafts, does the footing effect the spine in anyway?  I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to make my own footed arrows and am wondering the effects on the spine.  As the wood is heavier, adding tip weight, does it weaken the arrow more?

Obviously no affect on static spine, and likely minimal affect on dynamic.  Weigh your shaft before footing, then again after and see how much weight you've added to the tip.  Might surprise you.

Like BAK said only the dynamic spine because of the extra weight forward. For each extra 25 grs subtract 5# of spine. Having not made footed shafts I'm only guessing.

Depending on the wood you use and the length of the footing, the footing doesn't add much physical weight.  In my experience with a 11/32 POC shafts, about 25-30 grains with a standard 4-point hardwood foot about 7 inches long.  The difference in weight is only the difference between the weight of the hardwood foot and the POC, not the entire weight of the hardwood foot, because if it weren't there, the space/length would be occupied by the POC shaft.

It does slightly increase the static spine a pound or three, but given the slightly heavier front end, not enough to worry about in terms of affect on arrow flight.
