Out of surgery and home.  Pain block has worn off and thank God for pain pills.  Thanks for the prayers and information.  Tom

Hang in there Tom.  The pain will subside.   In 6 to 8 weeks.
I can afford to shoot most any bow I like.  And I like Primal Tech bows.

Hope things continue to go well! I know it's going to be a long road, but that first backstrap of your next kill is going to taste soooo good...

One week out and have been off the pain meds for three days.  Light rehab is going well.                      l

Good to hear WC! "Rome wasn't built in a day"
...because bow hunting always involves the same essentials. One hunter. One arrow. One animal. -Don Thomas

Awesome! I've had both shoulders done. You'll be flinging arrows again before you know it.

Here is a link to my first shoulder replacement in 2016. You might want to read it to find out what you are in for as you progress through recovery. I wrote it in detail as a sort of guide to other trad bow aficionados who have shoulder replacements and who want to have a recorded recovery to use as a measure of progress.

The recovery is a lot of work, and the blessing is that now every day will be better rather than worse.

Here is the Trad Gang story of my replacement and recovery: http://www.tradgang.com/tgsmf/index.php?topic=104079.0

Great news.

PT really helps, but be careful what you do at home.

It was 3 months after my surgery that I could draw a bow.

I started out with the wife's 29 pounder, within another month I was shooting 42 pounds.

Glad surgery went well and you are starting to feel a bit better.  I too went down this road and at first was discouraged that I may never get back to shooting a recurve or longbow again.  A 16 foot "peter Pan" from a tree stand does a lot of damage to a shoulder  :bigsmyl:  4 years later I am up to 55 pounds again with my Ric Anderson Chinook.  Lots of good advice from others here so I won't add to it.  Follow your physical therapist instructions and do your excercises at home.  It will make the world of difference.

PS  And no snow shoveling for a long while......

Wyoming Chief

Had my 2 week appointment with the DR.  Everything looks good and he was very pleased with my flexibility.  He gave me 3 more at home stretching exercises and I see him again in a month.  Re-hab will start serious then.

That's a good report.  Stay with it.  You'll be shooting again before you know it.

I've had both shoulders replaced one 10 years ago and the other 2 years ago im78years old and shooting 47 lb just work real hard with rehab and don't shoot before they tell you it"s ok

Wyoming Chief

Had my 6 week check-up yesterday.  Everything is great.   I can raise my arm straight up to the front and side without pain.  Increasing the re-hab now with more aggressive stretching and light weights.  Feeling much better about this.

It is good to know your recovery is going well.

Heck yeah!  That's a great report.  Keep at it and you'll be back shooting before you know it.
