Another question off of this.  I tend to like shooting heavier heads how much is to much for a lighter bow.  Arrow flight being the most important.  20 yard max.  I know ill have to do some experimenting just wanted to get others thoughts

I shoot bows near the 45# mark at 29". Total up-front weight -- head and insert combined -- is 225 to 250 grains on a 500-spine shaft at 29.5" to the back of the point. Of course this depends on the brand of the 500-spine shaft since the spine varies a bit from brand to brand.

I get excellent bare shaft flight with this formula.

Just depends on the overall arrow weight you want to shoot.  I generally shoot about 500 grains in woodies, (11 gpp on a 45# bow) with just the 125 grain head up front and 500 to 550 grains in carbons with the head, adaptor and insert about 250-300 grains up front.  I don't like to go over 12 gpp.

This is the entry wound on a doe I bagged this morning with a VPA 250 grain 1 1/4" 3-blade. Bow is a 45# 1963 vintage Red Wing Hunter.  Arrow weight is 546 g.

Shot was single lung and liver, she was quartering toward me.  Pass through, she went ~ 15 yards and dropped. Left a big hole in the liver before exiting into some wood behind where she was standing.

Shutle-T-Locks 125 grns on top of 75grn brass inserts. On Beaman centershots 500s, 30" almost the magic 500grns.

And YES they are (3) blades.
They group more consistent then my (2) blade Razor heads 145grn, by Bear.

Looks like a Bodkin? Or an MA3? I know its not , good design.

VPA is a solid one piece broadhead. They are very good.
