I've been shooting my new bear t/d. I'm shooting 3-under and it seems louder than it should. I did notice that the limbs have some up and down movement once installed that I'm guessing is some of it. I don't have any silencers on it yet but what I'm hearing I think is t necessarily string noise. Thanks Guys

You should not have any movement of the limbs once you close the latches.

I have only shot mine split finger. My nock point is set 1/2" above the shelf.

Shooting 3under you need a higher nock point. Probly 5/8" maybe even 3/4"...??
What is your brace height? I always set mine about 8-1/2" but the new string I put on, I set it at 8-5/8" and it was noticeably quieter. Try 8-3/4" and see if it works?

Simple solution to shooting 3u that everyone fights against, raise the arrow rest up about 3/4 - 1 inch and the tiller problem goes away. 

My nock point is 5/8". I will raise it up and try that. But my limbs will move till I brace the bow. I've read people use mole skin between the limb and the riser? My brace height is 8". Thanks Guys

Try a 1/4" x 1" strip of mole skin or thin felt bent over the top edge of the limb butt on both sides.

I'd run your brace height up to 8-1/2" first, Jim

Factory says 7-3/4" to 8-3/4"

I run all of my old Bears at about 8-1/2" When I shot 3under, I ran all of my nock heights at 5/8"
I will say this though, all of my old Bears were noticeably louder shooting 3under.

Usually, increasing brace height, will quiet a bow down.
AND I find it easier than messing with a crimped on nock point!!

Also, all of my old Bears, have dacron strings.

With the low stretch FF strings that come on the new Kodiak T/Ds,
I would think there would be more string vibration? 
Running my brace height at 8-5/8" made a world of differance.

The problem basicly is that most production bows are tillered for shooting split finger, and what we do to work around that problem shooting 3under. A feather, or stick on bristle rest, would solve your problem.
And look cool too!!

I think I'll raise the brace. Put silencers on it. I have no qualms shooting spilt fingered. I'll just wait till after Saturday to change. Sunday gun season opens for 2 weeks. That will give me some time to practice. Thanks Guys

Brace height is about the easiest thing to tinker with...

Unstring the bow, twist it up 5-6 times, string it and shoot it. Repeat as needed.
Hardest part is unstringing and restringing the bow. When you're done, just measure and remember!

I run my bear takedown at 8.5 and a .75 nocking point for 3 under. You need to increase your brace height a few turns at a time and shoot it. You will notice a difference as you keep adjusting it up. While other bows may like a lower brace height. The brace height is the first thing I adjust when tuning a bow.

Any noise difference will be easier noticed without them. Then you can put them on and it'll be quiet as a mouse.

IMHO, I think 8-1/2" and a 5/8" nock height, should be just about right, for 3under.

There are always trade offs.  Shooting 3 under is louder than shooting split because it pulls the limbs more out of tiller so they vibrate at different frequencies at the conclusion of the shot, causing more noise.  As already noted, raising the nock point and raising the brace height ameliorate the problem, but they don't  make it go away.  3 under will always be noisier. 

Going well, thank you. I put some foam on the limbs and increased the brace height to 8-3/8" and things are good. I can probably get it quieter by shooting split finger but I'll give that a try over the winter, after season. Thanks Guys
