Beautiful morning to start with Before sunrise I'm creeping in and I see a huge rack silhouetted up on at the bluff on the pipeline I'm following. He's a good distance away and I stalk in to about 60 yds, there is actually two, one 10 pointer and a beast of a body and one 6. Can't get any closer and I can't take a shot anyway it's about 45 mins before legal, so I just watch as they walk off slowly.

Anyway I sit in a natural blind for the morning and don't se anything else so I decide to pack up for some lunch, I take the arrow off the string to put it back into my quiver and wasn't careful, the Razorhead just ever so slightly touched the string and I cut through two strands of my 15 stand flemish.
So now I go home eat some lunch, make a new string (I know I should have done that already but...) and put it on the stretcher until tomorrow morning ,This is for a 70" 1958 Bear Kodiak Special.
I grab the 1957 Kodiak off the wall and head out for an afternoon hunt, saw another nice buck but no shot, too far away.
Anyway the moral of the story is why do what you can get done today and be prepared in the event of a cut string when you can put it off for another day, this is a great way to cycle through your bows.

Been there, done that.
I was on a bear hunt in Mane and I had two strings with me.
First day of the hunt I grabbed my bow and noticed the string had a few strands cut. 
So my spare string is on my bow and that made me feel very uneasy not having a spare.
Now when I hunt far from home, I take two bows with three strings for each. 

I actually cut a string like that when I was about 16.  That's almost 60 years ago.  Didn't know how to make my own strings back then and took me the entire morning and nearly 100 miles of driving (it was a Sunday) to find a hardware store that had a string that would work.

Since then, I've never hunted without an extra string in my pack for the bow I'm using.  I also carry string making material in my truck and at my cabin so I can make one in fairly short order.

On a Western hunt I usually carry at least two extra strings for every bow I take.     

Nearly cut mine in half a few years ago. The back edge of my broad heads are sharpened and they have cut both my string and even the Grippers on my hip quiver also.

When my friends and I are moose hunting, we're 1000 miles from home.
I always take two bows and at least two strings for each.
Some guys in our party hunt with training wheels. If they cut a string, they're screwed. 😁

Yeah I used to hunt with training wheels, I never did it when using the compounds and I always had a spare string set anyway. But now that I can make my own strings here at home I don't have a spare string on hand...Go figure. I'll rectify that this weekend though and build another string for inside the quiver pouch.

I cut one on a Colorado elk hunt.  It was a modern bow but had the old teardrop system and changing it was a breeze.
I always carry a spare or two.
Another guy on that hunt dry fired his and popped the string off the cam.  I used a ratchet strap as a bow press and got him back up and going.
The only issue I've had with a single string is locator nocks coming loose.  I still carry spare strings.

I nicked one many years ago, but fortunately, it was at the end of the day. The next day, I hunted with a different bow. Now, I usually have multiple strings on hand for all the bows I hunt with.

I cut a string in half with a knife one time trimming some small twigs. After that I never hunt without a spare.

Always carry an extra, pre-stretched string.

A couple weeks ago I was on a hunt.  Second evening I shot an exotic doe and at the shot it sounded strange but a bloody arrow produced some winter meat 80 yards later.  Had two days left in the hunt and a split lower limb on my Tall Tines.  Fortunately I had my Primaltech long ow with me and the third evening I caused a very good blood trail with it.
Today when leaving for the ranch (tomorrow is our archery deer opener) i made sure both Primaltech bows were in the truck as was a spare string for each. 
Chance favors the well prepared.
