Got a new spot to hunt, private land. Been a few times to scope it out. Yesterday I went and found a spot with a few oaks. As I got closer to the spot I hear a blow and two small deer broke from cover. Good sign to me..... lol ! Looking forward to the opener in just over a week .

Good luck!

Good luck Ron.  Tell us more about the new property.  Is it flat? Any persimmon trees?  Pine plantations? Any competition with other lease guys?  Any agriculture?

Hey Charlie, pretty much just woods, some oaks here and there. Was logged a bit ago and you can tell where it was and wasn't, gradual hills nothing crazy! 135 acres just a few guys hunting it , most on weekends I would think. About 20 minutes from my house.

Scouting a new patch of woods is always fun. I've walked over my place so many times, I know it about as well as the deer. Oddly, though, every time I go out I seem to find a place with deer sign where I have not seen it before.

It's funny how spoiled we get.  I have my own farm to hunt 12 mins. from my front door.  Within 15 mins of my house I have literally hundreds of public and private acres to hunt yet feel bummed because the property right behind my house I hunted for 24 yrs. isn't available any more...Then I read stuff on here about people either having to lease land or drive for more than an hour just to hunt and I feel guilty.  Good luck everybody.

Cyclic-Rivers

That sounds good nuff.   You make a ground blind?  Hope you get some action.
Relax,
