Anyone ever shoot 1816 aluminum arrows ?

M60gunner

Yes, from my Bear with 45# limbs. I will confess they are my wife's arrows. I tried them because I found a combination with the 3R calculator using the 1816's. Not a combination I would hunt with, to light in weight but they flew well.

Hud

Just 1916, 1918, 2016, 2114, and heavier 2219 for hunting.

Not enough spine for me.  But the "16" wall will make them reasonably durable.
I do shoot larger sizes depending upon the bow.  Can't beat aluminum as a hunting arrow.

Covert Hunter Hex9h
Morrison Max 6 ILF
Mountain Muffler strings to keep them quiet
Shoot as much weight as you can with accuracy

PICKNGRIN

I have used them quite a bit in my 40 to 45 lb bows.  I draw about 27".  I have taken several deer with them using a 2 blade broadhead.  That gave me about a 450 grain arrow.

Jon Stewart

Yes. My wife killed deer with a longbow and 1816's and I have killed deer with my 40#  bow and 1816's.

Thanks guys I thought they might work for me , shooting about 43lbs at my 27 or so draw , have been shooting 2016 shafts cut to 28in with 100 grain brass insert and 125 grain heads , just a little heavier than i need , like PICKNGRIN the 1816 with 125 heads would get me closer to that 10gn per lb .

Jon Stewart

Don't over look a 1916. They are a great universal shaft  in that 40 to 50 pound bow range.

Shooting 2114 out of my Bear Takedown and they fly great. Shot 2216 and 2117 with heavier bows and really liked them... love wood tho.

I still shoot aluminum shafts some, not quite as much as carbons. I've only gone down to 1916s for my bows around 40#.  I shoot a lot of 2016s and 2018s depending on the bow. Usually around 50# or slightly more.

jamesh76

The doe I shot last week had a 1816 with 125 grain stinger go through her shoulders and hung on by the feathers from a 42# bow.  I also shoot them from.my selfbows.
