Can any of you fine folks recommend someone to refinish and straighten some slight limb twist on a Grayling Michigan Bear Super Mag? I found this bow in my wife's Godfather's possessions after he sadly passed away last winter. I've never refinished/repaired a bow and my work schedule ( I work in highway and bridge construction) doesn't really allow for me to learn and work on it right now as we are wide open. I love the look of this bow and hope to get it into shooting condition if at all possible. It appears he began sanding the clear coat on the limbs at some point and there is painters tape covering all writing and decals except for the coin. On another site goes by the handle 2Bears. Everyone has nothing but great reviews.

Pretty easy to straighten a twisted limb and doesn't take but a few minutes.  Just twist the limb in the opposite direction.  Can do it with the bow strung or un strung.  Will have to string it to test to see if you removed the twist.

Agree that the Bow Hospital is a good choice.  Also Rich Lopez, Droptine 59. He has a web site.

I was put in touch with Rich via another avenue but he is swamped right now. Gonna give Bow Hospital a call. My biggest issue is the finish, I'm certain I could do both myself but with construction season in full swing and being home 1 weekend a month I just want to throw some money at it and get it knocked out.

John Rafferty of the Bow Hospital does great work. He's refinished a bow for me as well as reducing weight on another and reshaping the grip and refinishing.

I'll put in a plug for Ken Butler aka 2 Bears. He does great work. So does Rich Lopez but he is backed up.

Finishing them is not difficult at all. Granted I probably don't get as fancy as someone who does it professionally, but they've all come out good and are holding up. I just get a piece of rope or wire and hang it by the top string grooves from something, then spray it down with polyurethane. I do two coats on the limbs and four on the riser, with light sanding after each coat on the riser. Just remember to touch up the limb tip where the bow was hung and the rope was
