hey fellas I just ordered a Hawk tree seat, anyone hunt with one of these or any other kind? Whats your opion on tree seats in general? Trying to get a doe on ground with the longbow.

J. Cook

I use the Hawk a lot - I like it fine.  None are perfect, but I like the tree seats better than a stool.  The hawk is comfortable as long as you set it properly.

I have two; a summit trophy chair, very, very comfortable but awkward and heavy to carry through the woods, mine is from before they made a folding model.

I also have a millenium tree seat, super comfortable, very light and easy to carry, it is my go to tree seat now.

Thanks for replies guys, so is the Hawk hard to set? I do most of my hunting in mornings.  Will be setting up in dark, also whats best way to carry in?

Tom

Have been using the millenium for 5 years since I basically gave up trees and killed several deer with it in combo with a kill suit and and ASAT ghillie. Light and strap it to my pack and off we go-keep in mind back cover and wind. Love to be eye to eye with deer and if you get a shot you know you've done things right.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

I have a Torges seat that I made years ago....only used it when it was too snowy/icy to climb.  now that I'm 100% a saddle hunter, I wear my saddle whenever I go afield...if I can't find a tree climb, I just hook up my tether on a tree from the ground and sit in my saddle.  don't think I'll ever carry the torges seat in again.

Marc, I'm curious if you have ever used your Torges seat as a platform to stand on with your tree saddle?  Seems it would work.

The Hawk takes only a minute or two to set up - very easy.  I simply make the ratchet strap an over-the-shoulder strap to carry in and out.

it wouldn't work.  what ever you use for a platform has to be able to support not only downward pressure from your feet when you are still, but also side pressure as you walk around the tree to position for shooting or use the tree as cover.  Saddle hunting is all about the angles

My Hawk seat arrived and it is a very comfortable and well built seat.

Bobaru, I wouldn't trust a Torges seat to stand on, they're great for sitting, but nowhere near safe enough to stand on, IMO.

Quite some time ago, Lone Wolf made a strap on seat that looks a lot like the Hawk. I still have one and like it.  However, I find myself using my hammock seat more often. It's lighter and more compact and very comfortable.
