Wudstix-

What's your price range and brim size you're looking for? Definitely wanting fur felt not wool felt?

You are right... some of them are ridiculously priced.

Could be pretty costly. I priced a Fedora by Borsalino last summer and it was $400.00. Too steep for my wallet.

I have an Akubra made in Australia,  Banjo Patterson style. They're made from rabbit fur felt. I've had it for years and I can't wear it out. I don't remember what I paid for it, close to $200. I think

Was looking at Borsalino Traveler style, or Stetson.

You're right could buy several of those for the cost of a good quality hat, but looking for fur felt.

I've got one that's made by Peter Brothers down in Fort Worth. Best I've ever owned. I've had it for almost 20 years and will pass it on to my kids.

One of the few things to have ever gone down in price.  I just bought one for $175.

Akubra also makes a fedora called the stylemaster that is made in several colors. It is also a rabbit fur felt that can be had for around $150. Akubras are great hats - I have 5 of them.
You can fix stupid.......but it's gonna hurt!

Akubra. Many styles and colours to choose from. Don't see something you like? No problem, just get something close to what you want and the crown and brim can be steamed over a pot of water and reshaped however you like.
Look up the akubra somebero and bushtucker man for an extreme example of how they can be reshaped

They trimmed the brim shorter when I ordered my Akubra

Akubra and Borsolino both are candidates, but need to budget for them.
