BRONZ

This year marks taking a whitetail with a bow and arrow 20 straight years. The last 13 have been with recurve only.

I got to my tree about 45 minutes before first light and enjoyed not being eaten up by mosquitoes despite the muggy temperature. At about 7 am, I had a doe and two yearlings pass through the bean field in front of me moving South to North.
Ten minutes later, I am caught off guard when one of the yearlings slips in underneath my ladder stand and beds down under the canopy. I have time to take a couple photos, position my feet, and even practice draw to make sure I have limb clearance. The deer is facing away and the leaves are blowing, but I am going to have to shoot seated. You can clearly see "the hole" I have to slip through in one of the photos.
Finally, I pick a spot and reach anchor. The shot is a little high and requires a follow up arrow, but the job got done! Not bad for a first sit of the year!

Goal is a P&Y buck from the ground this year! Hopefully, I'll have a follow up story to this one!

The problem with shooting the young ones around here is we eat them up to fast. Just not enough of that awesome meat.
Congrats.
