What is everyone's opinion on the bow blanks made from Ipe and backed with bamboo? Thinking about maybe trying one. The kit would save a bit of work and the glue up. Your thoughts ????

Those look like nice kits. Good idea if you are just looking to get a bow. Then again you could buy a inexpensive used one and would save even more work. If you are interested in eventually making a bow, $150. plus shipping buys a whole lot of materials. Glueing up a blank might be the least technical part of the bow making process.

The bamboo need to be tapered in thickness and so does the Ipe. and width too.
Not as easy to do as you said it, Flem
Watch the How to video for finishing the bow at the bottom of the page.

I know the guy that builds those Puritan bow blanks and you can't go wrong with one of James' bow blank. They are almost tillered so it won't take much work to have a great shooting boo backed ipe bow.
