Part B gets quite a bit darker and smells caustic!
I own and use many different Smooth-On epoxy's in addition to EA-40 and have noticed that it's only the slow setting/long open time hardeners that go bad.

Mad Max

I thought it smelled strong
Part B is which one flem?
yellow or blue can?

I wondered about that to but If mine starts to smell, I mark the cans shop only & get fresh EA-40 maybe Im over cautious but if I have a failure I  know its not the Epoxy for the most part, its cheap Insurance ,I try only order what Im going to use in a 6 month period ! I wonder if you keeped it in the fridge if it would last longer ?
If you fear failure, you will never try ! But never except it!!

Crooked Stic

I have used the smelly hardener with no problems. two years old and been opened I might not trust it.

I concur with Stic, I use smelly hardener without issue. But I don't worry about the age. if it stinks, I leave the can open and if the smell dissipates in an hour or so, I use it. If it keeps off gassing or it looks like the consistency has changed, its trash.

I've used very old smooth on and never had a problem(knock on wood) the stuff is amazing! I wouldn't be afraid to use it. I only build bow for myself, family or friends though, If I was selling bows I might get new.
