My wife and I are buying our first home, closing 8/23!

It has an office, which I'm turning into my hunting room. It already has wood floors that we are going to refinish.

Looking for cool ideas, anything from paint, to storage (lots of packs, a tent, sleeping bag etc) as well as a place to hang up my bow and be able to shoot inside (blind bale).

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any advice to share (my hunting gear is relegated to a corner). Just wanted to say congratulations on the purchase!

Congratulations on your purchase.  I'd suggest looking into built in 'cubbies'.  I've attached a picture of a smaller version I had a wood worker build for me(I'm all thumbs) for our entry way off the garage.  As you can see it's used for a lot!! The nice part for you is you've got a blank canvas and you can assess what size to build and how big to build cubbies and how many. This can always be removed as it's held in place by a couple of small brackets hidden at the top, which the top is also used for storage.  You can use pine and then stain it to whatever color you need. The back is open, so do your finish painting first.

Here is a few from mine. Hope this helps..
My range is downstairs and is 20 yards.

Here is my archery room, how I store things, hang my bows ect.. I  made an "arrow storage box" years ago.

I sacrificed about 18" along one side of my garage. There are a row of closet door with continuous shelving behind it. That is where I store folding cots, boots, arrows, tree stands, backpacks, And a target butt.

My office is packed.  French doors open inward. Behind them is a stained 1X4 with pegs in it to hang my bows from. A closet for more storage. A small book shelf (Ladder type) for my book collection curios, bear skull etc.  Bear rug on wall.
A stool for guitar playing, and my guitar. A small hide-a-bed couch and an end table made of a 50 gallon crock.  It is tight, but functional.

We live in a townhouse and occasionally have to fit up to 9 grandkids in it, hence the hide-a-bed.

Currently tryin to decide what photos need to go on the wall.

The only problem with man caves is that your wife has an easy way to find out how many bows you have.... I learned that the hard way.

I have a small room, but it is as messy as my old college dorm room. I have 20 or so long guns and about as many bows along with numerous quivers of arrows. All this, along with a small work table, fills it up. You don't want to do yours anything like the way mine looks, but you will truly enjoy having your own space.

When we moved to Georgia my wife gave the room over the garage. I hung my bear rug on the wall, my Antelope mount and my collection of deer horns. I mounted shelving brackets with the shelf arms to hang my bows. I came south with 52 of them. [ took 2 trips ] Also lots of arrows. :dunno:  I had a cedar chest for some of my wool stuff, and shelves for my knife collection, arrow building stuff and other hunting and 3/D related things. I bought a cheap portable work station at Northern Tool that I use to do my tinkering [ build arrows, sharpen knives and broadheads and leather work ] Take your time and make it so you will enjoy your time in your space.

Haha I tried that with the apartment, hasn't gone over too well. I need some more animals on the wall and it will eventually overflow haha

That's what I did!!!!!

I still have a man cave room, but haven't started fixing it up yet. I am going to line the ceiling with old barn tin, and the walls with old cedar fence pickets to make the room look like the inside of an old barn.

Thanks Jacob!!! It is a work in progress. My wife always turned her nose up every time I hung a new critter on the wall. When we bought this house, she decided that the theme was gonna be "Jerry's animals". What else could I do, but agree with her???   :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

First thing I did was replace the old AC unit for the house and add duck work to my "workshop, bow room,". I lost a bow to a hot closet years ago. Racks and such are your decision, how show room perfect do you want it. Me, bows on racks, arrows, well most of them in racks otherwise I like confusion.
